COVID19 Emergency Relief Grants
We, at the Straubel Foundation, care about accelerating the transition to a more environmentally sustainable future through science, education, and impact investing. But foremost, we care about people. People have always been at the heart of our work. All the positive impact we have had (and will ever have) started with a person with a goal.
The people we like to support exhibit leadership in different ways. A leader can be someone that drives important projects or inspires their community to action. A leader can be a person in a lab that is laser-focused on innovation that could improve our lives. A leader can also be someone in pursuit of a degree, serving as a role model to others.
Today, we face one of the biggest tests of our time. And we recognize that regardless of how strong, passionate, impact-focused, or resilient you are… these are still difficult times.
It is hard because the unsustainable infrastructure around us is crumbling. There are actionable lessons to take away, and no doubt we will come out smarter and stronger. However, before we start rebuilding a re-defined world, we have to persevere through today’s reality. The Straubel Foundation would like to help you do just that.
We have set aside funds as part of an Emergency Relief Program. Please apply for a grant if you are experiencing financial hardship as a result of COVID-19. You can also recommend individuals you think may benefit from this support.
The grant application deadline is May 10, 2020. Applicants that did not receive a grant might be considered for future rounds of this grant program.
The fine print: This COVID-19 Emergency Relief Grant Program is in accordance with the rules of the Internal Revenue Service as postulated in Publication 3833 (Rev. 12-2014), Catalog Number 32168V. Individuals are eligible to apply if either they or a person in their household is an US Citizen (by birth or naturalization), US National Non-Citizen, or Qualified Alien. This Grant program, after objective evaluation, distributes funds to individuals experiencing urgent and pressing financial hardship. Per law, grants are limited to one grant per household, per year.
You can apply for a grant yourself or ask someone else to help you apply. The application preparer can be a friend, relative or even a good neighbour.
